I love my little Birdie That now lives in the sky.
Looking down from heaven, I wish you didn't die.
My heart is always with you this isn't my good-bye.
This is only the beginning, it's surely not the end.

The memories I had with you, my faithful feathered friend.
It's easy to see why I loved you, but then my life came to an end.
But now I just look up and smile, you are still as happy as you were then.

They bring us joy, as well as destructive gnaws.
But there comes a time when all good birds must go away.
