Name: Fiery-Shoulder Conure
Aka: Demerara Conures
Endangered: No, but uncommon in captivity as the bird was only introduced in 1988.
Speech: Can learn a few easy words, but voice is hard to understand. A very quiet bird.
Length: 25cm.
Weight: 75 grams.
Origin: South America.
Lifespan: 15-20+ years.
Cost: $300-$1000+

Lifestyle
Diet: Seed, pellets, fruit, veggies, nuts, legumes, pasta, well cooked meat, etc.
Personality: Sweet, clowny, playful, active, friendly, fun loving.
Cage Requirement: Large cage, 1 inch or less bar spacing.
Toy Requirement: Wood toys, Bells and noise-makers, etc. Rotate them often.
Good w/Children: Usually.
Flock Bird: Normally enjoys being around other birds.
Ideal Human Home: Can live in apartments.
Training: Fairly easy. These birds are very friendly.


Breeding
Captivity Breeding: Yes. Very easy to breed but not very common.
Ideal Nest Box: Log or large nest box.
Season: Spring.
Eggs: 4-6 eggs.
Incubation: 25 days.
Fledge Time: 50-51 days.

Sexing & Clipping
Sexually Dimorphic: No. Sex can be determined by DNA or feather sexing.
Clipping: Clip only the outermost flight feathers, about 4.
